Awaken to the forest’s chorus and explore Ba Bể National Park’s astonishing birdlife on an early‑morning birdwatching excursion. Home to more than 200 recorded species—including vivid kingfishers, drongos, barbets, woodpeckers, broadbills and seasonal migrants—this half‑day adventure blends a serene sunrise boat glide with a guided trek along forest trails. It’s an ideal experience for bird enthusiasts, photographers and eco‑travelers alike.

The tour begins at 5:00 am from Mr Linh’s Ba Bể office, where guests meet their guide, receive binoculars, and enjoy a short introduction to the rich birdlife of the park. As dawn breaks, the group sets out on a quiet boat ride across Ba Bể Lake. In the calm morning light, it is possible to spot kingfishers darting over the water, herons and egrets along the reed beds, and the reflections of the forest mirrored on the lake’s surface. The stillness of the early morning makes this the perfect time to observe waterbirds in their most active hours.

Around 6:30 am, the boat docks near a forest edge trail, and the group continues on foot. Moving slowly along the shaded paths, the guide points out the calls and movements of drongos, barbets, broadbills, and woodpeckers. Frequent stops allow guests to use spotting scopes and binoculars, while photographers can take advantage of the soft morning light filtering through the canopy.

By 8:30 am, the group pauses at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the forest, an ideal place to scan for more elusive species and seasonal migratory birds. Here, the guide may also share quick photography tips for capturing birds in flight or in natural light.
The walk continues gently through the forest until around 10:00 am, when the group makes its way back toward the lake. Returning to Mr Linh’s Ba Bể office by 10:30 am, the tour concludes with a refreshing cup of local tea and a recap of the species observed during the morning.
